We ensured secure UID recognition, but faced difficulties with ESP8266 cloud connection stability and ensuring the RFID module’s data synced correctly under fluctuating power conditions. Logging timestamps in proper format on Firebase also needed adjustment.

Our Solution

We integrated an MFRC522 RFID reader with NodeMCU to detect authorized cards, trigger servo lock movement, and push log entries (UID + time) to Firebase Realtime Database. A web frontend was built using HTML/CSS/JS to fetch and display entries in a table.

Results Achieved

The student received a complete smart lock solution with cloud-based access logs, ready to be tested in a real environment. All events were securely timestamped and filtered by user role.

We ensured GPS accuracy, but encountered issues with delayed GSM data transmission, and aligning Google Maps API markers with updated coordinates from the device. Parsing GPS data (NMEA format) and converting it into usable JSON was also challenging.

Our Solution

We used a GPS module (NEO-6M) and GSM module (SIM800L) with Arduino to transmit location data via HTTP to a server, which then updated Google Maps markers using JS APIs. The map auto-refreshed every 10 seconds and showed path history with pins.

Results Achieved

A real-time, map-based vehicle tracking system that displayed live movement and coordinates with accuracy. The student achieved a working IoT + geolocation integration at an advanced level.
